Our Process
How We Provide the Best Shea Butter in the World for You
Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nuts of the shea tree, also known as ‘The Tree of Life.’ The Shea tree only grows on the ‘Shea Belt,’ spanning west to central Africa. Local women in this region produce shea butter using centuries-old traditional methods.
Our organic shea butter is sourced and produced in the north region of Ghana in a town called Wa. It is then sealed and transported to the UK via direct air freight within 24 hours of production. This process ensures that it retains freshness and key vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other natural properties.
The product lands in the UK and is available for purchase within 72 hours of production.
This process is much faster than other suppliers that transport their shea butter by the sea in hot conditions, which can take weeks to arrive in the UK.
As a result, the shea butter may get spoilt, develop a sour odor, get moldy, and lose nutrients. By avoiding that fate, we provide you shea butter with all its nutrients and freshness intact.
We also don’t refine our shea butter. Refined shea butter only has 75% of the nutrients; the other 25% is the preservatives used to help provide a consistent product and extend the product’s shelf life. The downside to using refined shea butter is that consumers do not get 100% of the shea butter’s nutrients.
That’s why we keep our shea butter unrefined and unadulterated with additives. We add no natural or artificial colors and fragrances.
Some suppliers may mix essential and olive oil in the shea butter, but we refrain from that practice as well.
We want you to experience shea butter’s rich, nourishing moisture in its best form: organic, unrefined, raw, and as nature intended.
